Dual Fuel Engine
The Dual Fuel engine is a type of engine which utilizes a mixture of gas fuel or diesel fuel or could work off of diesel by its self. The dual fuel engine is not capable of running on gas alone. These engines do not have ignition systems and do not utilize spark plugs.
Since the engine is not a pure diesel engine and diesel is not a pure gas, this equipment does suffer from poor fuel efficiency and Methane slippage. For instance, the fuel efficiency can be 5% to 8% less than in a comparable lean-burn, spark-ignited engine at 100 percent load. It can even be greater on lower loads.
Lift Truck Classification and Fuel Sources
There are some recycling materials handling applications which could prove extremely difficult for lift trucks. Like for instance, scrap metal is one of these issues. To be able to successfully handle things like this requires using the correct type of machinery for the job.
In this write-up, the 7 major lift truck classes are discussed, including the power sources like liquid propane gas, hydrogen fuel cell, diesel, electric and gasoline. The power source is linked to several of these particular classes. The main power sources for forklifts include Battery, Diesel, Gasoline, Propane and Fuel Cell.
The most popular overall are electric powered trucks, mainly in Class I, II and class III forklifts. In Classes IV and V, internal combustion trucks are more popular. The most popular electric power source is the lead-acid battery. Out of internal combustion trucks, approximately more than 90 percent are propane powered.
The battery is the forklifts most common power source. Battery powered units make up approximately 60% of the new forklifts sold within the USA. Their benefits consist of: quiet operation, less maintenance requirements, the ability to be utilized inside and outside with no harmful emissions.
